Payment links
Does a customer need an account to pay by link?
Distinguish the merchant account, customer checkout and bank authentication to explain the payment flow clearly.

The essentials
A link can open checkout without asking the customer to create an account in your app. Steps still depend on the selected method and provider: bank authentication or a wallet sign-in may be required. Your merchant account remains necessary to accept payment.
Three accounts not to confuse
The business account lets you prepare requests and view payments. The customer owns their bank or wallet account. Some solutions also offer a customer account to save information; that feature is not universal.
Explain where payment happens: the customer opens your link, checks your identity and the amount, then follows checkout.
Bank verification may still be needed
“No account to create” does not mean “no checks”. The bank may request approval in its app or another authentication step. Let the customer complete it themselves and never collect their code.
If they return after an interruption, check the status before asking them to try again. The visible end of checkout may differ from the transaction’s actual status.
Asking for a receipt is a separate step
An email address may be used to send a receipt. Explain why you need it and keep receipt delivery separate from marketing sign-up. If the customer asks for an invoice, check the required information in your invoicing tool.
In practice
A useful explanation
“Open the link to see the amount and available payment methods. Your bank may ask you to confirm the payment.” This prepares the customer without promising a completely step-free flow.
